Solomonic highly commended by judges at Legal Innovation Awards

Shaping the future of how litigation is practised

The roll out and implementation of Solomonic’s litigation data and analytics platform at top ranked litigation firm, Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), was highly commended by judges at The Legal Innovation Awards, announced on the 2nd of October.

The implementation saw a small pilot project successfully progress into a full roll out across the Disputes team. The platform helps Herbert Smith Freehills litigators to stay on top of the very latest litigation activity, contextualise their advice with relevant historical result patterns, pick out arguments which have succeeded in the past, and carry out research on experts, barristers and opponents.

Damien Byrne Hill, Managing Partner for Disputes, said: “The use of litigation data and analytics is an important tool – shaping the future of how litigation is practised. The Solomonic platform provides an extra layer of statistical backing, which helps clients make sophisticated decisions in a structured and analytical way.

HSF partner Alex Oddy noted, “In the Commercial Court you find some of the highest value and most complex matters in the English court system. When you have to make the biggest calls, it’s helpful to use data to inform your decision. Solomonic provides that base rate data on outcomes against which each client’s particular decisions can be evaluated. It’s a valuable additional input to help clients approach decision-making in a more structured and analytical way. And the platform’s functionality undoubtedly helps lawyers who use it to deploy core litigation skills more effectively.”

Solomonic’s platform is increasingly used by law firms, litigation funders, insurers and major institutions, to track litigation activity and inform decision-making. Solomonic Managing Director Edward Bird commented, “We are delighted that the judges recognised the innovation that Solomonic delivers for our customers and even more delighted at the value this creates for them.”
