Solomonic off to a fast start in 2019
Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, and UK Research and Innovation, have given litigation analytics start-up Solomonic and Warwick Business School a fast start to 2019; and signalled the rise of litigation data as a critical tool in the dispute resolution lawyer’s arsenal.
Herbert Smith Freehills have successfully completed the first stage of their development partnership with Solomonic, and have agreed a deal to roll out Solomonic’s litigation analytics platform across their UK disputes team.
Donny Surtani, a Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, noted: “We are very excited to be further cementing our relationship with Solomonic. The use of litigation data and analytics is an important tool – shaping the future of how litigation is practiced.”
Litigation analytics is now increasingly seen as critical to the evolution of the litigation sector in England and Wales. This was reinforced by the decision of UK Research and Innovation to help fund a partnership between Solomonic and top ranked Warwick Business School, to develop the machine learning capabilities which will drive world-leading litigation data and analytics.
The funding was provided through the Government’s modern industrial strategy by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation.
Professor Joe Nandhakumar from Warwick Business School, said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Solomonic. They have the vision, the legal expertise and the execution capability to really turn machine learning technology into a high value reality for practitioners.”
Gideon Cohen, Solomonic co-founder, commented: “2019 is off to a great start. Herbert Smith Freehills are top ranked globally for their litigation work, and we are very excited to be deepening our relationship with them. In particular, we look forward to working with them to mould the new offerings we are developing for settlement data and Chancery division judgment analytics.”
He added: “The vote of confidence in our vision from Innovate UK, and the scalability that our AI project will enable, will help us to accelerate the value we can provide for the key players in the litigation sector.”
